Labour's Team for Moray

Moray Labour is pleased to announce our largest slate of candidates in almost 20 years for the forthcoming local government elections in Moray. Five candidates will fly stand for Labour, with experienced candidates like John Divers and Sandy Keith being joined by three younger candidates. The full slate of candidates is:

  • John Divers – Elgin City South
  • Sandy Keith – Elgin City North
  • James Hynam – Forres
  • Ben Williams – Fochabers Lhanbryde
  • Andrew O’Neill – Heldon and Laich.

Following the close of nominations, Labour Leader on the Moray Council, John Divers, said:

“I am delighted to be standing again, and pleased to be leading Labour’s largest slate of candidates in Moray in almost 20 years. For the first time ever in Moray, the vast majority of voters will be able to vote for a Labour candidate for the Council. This reflects both our re-energised activist base in our local party, as well as our belief that we can make significant gains in these elections.

“With no party standing enough candidates to win an outright majority on the Council, an enlarged group of hard-working Labour councillors may well hold the balance of power after these elections. This represents a real opportunity to enact progressive, social democratic, policies for the benefit of all of Moray’s communities.”
