Moray Labour is celebrating gains across Moray in Thursday’s local elections.

In addition to securing the re-election of long standing Labour Councillor, John Divers, in Elgin City South; Labour candidates Sandy Keith and Ben Williams gained seats for Labour in Elgin City North and Fochabers Lhanbryde, respectively.

Labour’s increase in vote share in Moray dwarfed the other parties, with Labour gaining 8 percentage points, to the SNP’s 4, the Lib Dems 3, and the Greens 1. Not only was the Conservative vote flat across Moray, the Labour beat the Tories in Elgin.

These results show that Labour is a contender in Moray again, capable of taking votes and seats from both the Tories and the SNP.
