On Monday, Labour held it’s Annual General Meeting where we discussed the successes of the last year and the new challenges ahead.

Sandy Keith was re-elected as chairman with John Leslie taking up the vice-chairman position, while serving Elgin City North councillor Barry Jarvis was elected as secretary and Alan Burgess the new treasurer.

Following Monday’s AGM Sandy Keith said:

“Moray Labour Party is in good health. The people of both Elgin North and Elgin South wards returned Labour councillors as their number one choice and reaffirmed Elgin as an area of strong Labour support.

“Outside of Elgin we made gains when everyone expected we’d be in decline.

“We in the Moray Labour Party intend to build upon these excellent council election results and at the AGM agreed on a reorganisation of the party which will enable further progress.

“Members continue to be active and are currently embarking on a campaign highlighting the benefits of Scotland remaining part of the UK.”
