Moray Labour has welcomed the news that Armed Forces personnel are to receive a 6% pay increase, as announced by the Labour Government.
Commenting on the announcement, Moray Labour Group Leader Councillor Sandy Keith (Elgin North) said:
“The news that Armed Forces personnel are due to receive a 6% pay increase will be welcome to all those serving in our community here in Moray. This represents the largest pay increase for our Armed Forces for 22 years, and is a clear demonstration of the new Government’s commitment to our service personnel.
The Government funding pay increases for teachers is also likely to generate further money being made available for the Scottish Government for education and healthcare. It is vitally important that the Scottish Government use any additional education funding to alleviate some of the ongoing issues at UHI Moray. For too long, Moray has been ignored – if the Scottish Government is given extra funding, there will be no excuse.”
