This year’s Scottish Labour conference was the biggest for 22 years, and Moray Labour was well represented. Stuart MacLennan, Ben Stewart, and Ben Williams were all part of Moray’s representation, as well as Rhoda Grant, MSP for the Highlands and Islands.

Moray CLP submitted a motion calling for a public inquiry on the ScotWind auction, proposed by Cllr Ben Williams.

The motion was supported unanimously by the conference, and Shadow Energy and Net Zero Secretary Ed Miliband MP referred to the issue in his speech to conference.

Rhoda Grant MSP, Shadow Cabinet Secretary for Rural Affairs, Land Reform and Islands, closed the debate, focusing on issues such as depopulation, transport, jobs, and energy.

The next day, Moray CLP Secretary Stuart MacLennan spoke in a debate in favour of House of Lords reform, and in favour of a motion calling for greater support for arts and culture.

Throughout the weekend, members from across Scotland remarked upon what a vibrant CLP Moray appears to be, which is a testament to the hard work of our activists in Moray all year round.
