Labour councillors have welcomed the renewed support for building a new bypass for Elgin. At today’s meeting of the Moray Council, a motion calling for renewed support for a bypass and criticising the Scottish Government for the slow pace of progress was supported by all councillors but one.

Speaking after today’s meeting, the motion’s proposer, Councillor Keith, welcomed the broad support his proposal received:

“The Fochabers bypass, commissioned by the last Labour Government in Edinburgh, was delivered in 2011, but other than that not one inch of this new road has been delivered in Moray, which says a lot.
